High Voltage

Shoes/ YRU, Bag/ Jump From Paper, Dress/ Barrio Vintage.

$up
Jump From Paper bags caught my eye sometime last year. I always loved the way that they looked, especially how they looked in pictures. When I first saw them I was convinced that someone photoshopped a cartoon looking bag into their picture. When I figured out that it was actually a real bag, I felt like I needed one. About a week or two ago Jump From Paper approached me about featuring them on my blog. I was so thrilled and excited! I got the bag over the weekend and I was a giddy school girl when I opened the package. It also came with a really cute cartoon like wallet (which I desperately needed.). This purse is definitely a necessity to my current style, so you will be seeing a lot more of it (Thank you Jump From Paper!). The bag is also very roomy and can fit a lot of stuff, it even looks cartoon-y when you open it. Make sure to check out their website JumpFromPaper.com.

This dress I got from a vintage store in Honolulu, when I went to Oahu this easter break. The vintage store was probably the coolest one I had ever been too. It was called Barrio Vintage in downtown Honolulu. If your ever in the area, this is a must if you love vintage as much as I do. The people who work there are so friendly and they love unique outfits (the best kinds). I've been told if you go there a lot, the owners will pick out and save stuff for you that they think you would like. That is my kind of place. Lastly this outfit wouldn't be complete without my YRU platforms. I have been getting a lot of wear out of them lately, I am really interested in getting new platforms that are high quality. Probably from buffalo, but they are kind of pricey.

Music- This song has literally been stuck in my head for a whole entire week. I can't get enough.

Beauty

Shirt/ Eat End Vintage, Shorts/ Bleached Vintage, Socks/ Target, Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell.

$up,
Lately I have been thinking a lot about beauty. I had a conversation on friday with two other girls and I asked them what they thought was beautiful and what kind of people they were attracted to. One girl told me she thinks beauty is ugly. She is attracted to people that have crooked teeth, who are overweight who have moles, people that are not perfect. She really stressed that she hated "perfect" people. Not in a jealous type of way, she just didn't think that perfection or what society displays as "perfect" was beautiful. In my words what she is saying is perfection is imperfection. The other girl told me that she liked tall awkward people with big noses. Personally I am attracted to people that are individuals and that are unique. Creativity is what I love to see in others. I love people that are unconventionally pretty and tall and lanky.

I think we all agreed that the personality is everything. To be honest though, there is always that first impression. As people we recognize beauty and most of the time that is what gets us interested. Thats not us being shallow, mind you, thats just stating a fact. Once you start talking to the other person it really is all up to the personality. I have talked to people that I thought were the most beautiful people on earth and then I realized that their personality was garbage and it actually changed their appearance in my eyes.

I don't really understand the difference between the people that we all talked about that night and the people that society deems as "perfect". What makes them all seem so "perfect" is they have confidence. All people have flaws and celebrities and models are no different. Those flaws are what make them stand out and they choose to own them rather then to wallow in self pity. It is because they are in the public eye that makes others feel inferior or not beautiful enough. We need to just realize that they are people, just like us. They are perfectly imperfect, just like us.

A lot of what we think is beautiful is a reflection on what we see in ourselves that we like and the rest is what we see in our surroundings. Ultimately beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am really interested to hear what you, my readers think is beautiful. (Please comment bellow and let me know what you think is beautiful)

Pinky

Skirt/ Beyond Retro, Socks/ Target Shoes/ Vagabond, Sweater/ Hanes, Shirt/ American Apparel

$up,
So this is the reason why I am sick today. I went out yesterday with my new friend Justin from Texas. We went down to Brick Lane because on Sunday'd they have a short of flea market. It was really very cool, I found a lot of really cool stuff, but only ended up buying a 2 pound watch and a faux fur coat for 15 pounds. I wasn't appropriately dressed for the weather in London because rain. We were walking around and it was only about 58 degrees and then it spontaneously started to rain. I guess that is just London though. We were both a little bit ill prepared and we ended up getting a cold.

Today this cold has knocked me on my ass. I have been so lazy and not productive. I have literally just been lying around and watching the office. Hopefully this is just a 24 hour bug, because Enrollment is on wednesday and I need to be at my best.

Salvation Mountain p.1

Dress/ Sun Thrift Shoes/ Feeling Vague Vintage Sunglasses/ Giant Vintage Sunglasses

$up,
Yesterday I went to Salvation Mountain with my mom. We both aren't religious, I don't believe in god or that Jesus is the savior or whatever, but I do believe in love. Even though this site has a lot to do with religion I think it has a whole lot more to do with love. For those of you who have never been there of have even herd of it before, Its a really beautiful mountain that has been painted by Leonard Knight in Niland, California. Niland is near to Palm desert and the Salton Sea, so needless to say, it was crazy hot (113 degrees). I don't do well in hot weather (or cold weather) but I think I held it together pretty well. Going to Salvation Mountain was such a wonderful experience and I was so happy to go with my mom. We hiked to the top, and explored in all the little caves and rooms. It is an experience I will never forget and always cherish.

Music-Because- The Beatles, I love this song, and it feels right with these pictures. The video I thought was kind of interesting.

Maybellene

Dress/Play Clothes Shoes/ Sun Thrift

$up,
Last night was my Mom and my Grandma's birthday party. They had it at this really cool venue (I found for them) called Complete Actors Place. It was a 1950s and 1970s themed party. My gut told me to dress 70s, because it would be so easy and I wouldn't have to buy anything, but the side of my brain that likes to take risks was like, EVERYONE is going to dress 70s, DRESS 50s! So I did. I went to these shops on Magnolia in Burbank a couple of days ago and looked around a bunch of vintage shops, and landed on this dress. I got it from this super awesome store called Play Clothes, they have a great selection of vintage clothing from the 40s to the 80s. Their clothes are a little bit pricey, but all vintage is pricey. = It was labeled 1950s but I think its more of an early 60s dress because of the style and the placement of the zipper. I thought it was beautiful and I wanted to stray away from a costume. I knew that when people thought 50s, they would dress in a poodle skirt, or dress like something you would see in the movie Greece. I wanted to do more of a classy housewife of the 50s (I think I achieved that goal.). Going to all of those stores really made me miss buying authentic vintage pieces. In high school, I was a vintage junky. I was obsessed with the 60s and 70s (I was also a hippy). To bad I don't have enough money for that haha.

Music- In honor of my outfit, I am going to post some music from the 50s. Chuck Berry - Maybellene

Turquoise Hexagon Sun

Dress/ Sun Thrift, Socks/ Target, Shoes/ Dr. Martens, Bag/ DIY Vintage Lunchbox

$up,
I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about wearing this. I think I'm between styles and I don't exactly feel comfortable in anything right now. It's strange because I have never really felt uncomfortable like this before. Clothing was always something that I didn't really care what other people thought. Now it's strange. I wanted to wear a little black dress today, but all the ones I had didn't really look so good. The one I am wearing was a long dress that I had cut to make shorter. Still don't know if I ruined a perfectly fine dress or if I made it better. I just recently got a bunch of socks from target for when I move away (truthfully, I have needed socks for a while, but moving was an excuse to have my mom buy them.) The socks came folded down in a pack, and I thought it was so cute I rolled them down when I put them on. I don't normally do that but I thought it was so suiting and cute with this outfit. Lastly I put on these white docs. I love these shoes, they are the first shoes I ever bought for myself. They are kind of worn down, but they are still kickin'. The bag is still my favorite, but it isn't very convenient when you have a lot to carry or take out of your purse. Yesterday I had a bunch of errands, and I swear I almost lost everything in my bag to the floor a number of times. I think I need to find someway to have the straps attach to the bottom of the bag instead of the top.

Tomorrow I am selling some t-shirts new and old at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. If you are interested in the new shirts or the old ones for a cheaper price then listed on my etsy store, PLEASE check us out!

Raging Waters

Shirt/ Sun Thrift, Skirt/ Sun Thrift, Shoes/ Etsy

$up,
Yesterday I went to a water park with my brother and my two step siblings. I used to really love water parks, even though they are pretty gross and you are most likely swimming in a mixture of little kids pee and water with a lot of chlorine, but this time it wasn't really that much fun and I don't really know why. My brother and I went one two slides and then we went in the wave pool and the lazy river. The water was really really cold, so I think thats why we only did a few things. The ground was also insanely hot, I definitely burned the bottom of my feet. There were other slides that we wanted to go on, but I was more hesitant because I remember the slides that didn't have inter-tubes really hurt your back or your front. Ryan and I got a lot of junk food, so that was pretty cool. We got weird looks from everyone, and I think its because of my hair and Ryan's rose.. Also a lot of people were talking about us and I'm pretty sure that they knew we could hear them. People are so strange.

Isn't this skirt cool? I got it along with this top at my most recent trip to Sun Thrift. I think thats one of the things I am going to miss the most about California. These shoes I got a while back on Etsy. They are kind of snug so I don't really wear them that often(They are also really unique, so it can be difficult to match them with outfits.). I found it entirely fitting to wear them yesterday though, because of where we were.

YUW

$up,
the past couple days have been stupidly busy and I cant shake this nervous feeling. I've been running around doing errands and small jobs giving to me by family members and friends. I wish I had stuff like this to do this past year while I was at home. Now isn't the best time, I am leaving so soon and I want to spend as much time with the people I love before I leave. Its strange how things play out sometimes.

Nu Shues

Music- Marvin Gaye- Got to Give it up. I know this seems a little weird, (or at least I feel weird doing it) but my friend told me that I should put the music before everything else because then you can get the whole experience. et me know what you think.

$up,
Not much has happened the past couple days. I've still been house/dog sitting. Im still kind of bummed that I had to do it over the weekend, but whatever today it my last day. I am glad that I had some pictures stored up on computer of outfits so I would have something to do though. This picture was taken a little bit before I left for camp. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to post it because my hair is a little out of control, but I guess I'm just going to post it. I got these really awesome shoes off of etsy for like 70 bucks, and Im super stoked on them, they are really wonderful. A tad uncomfortable but they just need to be broken in. This dress I got at H+M a couple years ago. I don't really wear it that often anymore, but I decided to do something different, to match the shoes. The shirt is from American Apparel, they are very good for some nice place shirts, skirts and pants. One of the necklaces I am wearing was found deep in my closet, its kind of strange because it wont just lay flat.

Oh and the last thing, I also created a facebook page, (I know, kind of douchey) but its for my blog, I would love it if any of you guys that actually read my blog would like it. Check it out!
