Alive

Shoes/ Unif, Pants/ Vintage, Top/ Vintage, Earrings/ Macy Marie.

Well hello there, it has been quite a while. I miss all your beautiful faces. I don't really have a good excuse for not posting much the past couple of months except for life. Sometimes it picks up really quickly and you become super busy and other times it slows down. I am not in a slow period as of now, but I am making time for stuff that I love. I hope to start posting regularly again in the near future. These pictures were taken at the Miista sample sale back in early October [Which was fucking awesome] and it was later featured on the Miista blog. I was honoured. As you can see I have a little angle in my picture. Her name is Gitsie and she is about 7 months old. I got her as a comfort dog to help me cope with my anxiety and boy I gotta say it really helps. Im sure if you follow me on instagram you have probably seen loads of pictures of her, she has her own account if you want to see more pictures of her [@gitsiethefrenchie].

Now, onto the outfit. I got these awesome shoes over the summer off of the Unif website. I was so excited to get them but a little disappointed to find out that after one wear the swirling image had worn off on the inside. I still love these shoes however, I wouldn't recommend spending your money on them, if you do insist on these shoes, I would go for the plain colored ones or the sparkly ones because you will get more wear out of them. The pants I got at a vintage store I randomly passes by in clapton. I was going to telcos and this little shop caught my eye. I went in and found 7 things instantly that were perfect. I only bought two things because that was all I could fit in my budget. I wish Vintage was dirt cheap, I think then I would have way to much clothing. The shirt I have featured before on my blog, I got it in Brighton earlier on this year with my friend Holly. It was a really fun trip, and hopefully we can go there again when it warms up in England. I am probably the most excited about these earrings. I got them over the summer when I was living in LA at the coolest vintage shop called Flamingo Vintage [Highly recommend that store]. The earrings are made by a girl called Macy Marie and she makes a whole lot of cool jewellery, Check her out. My roots have also grown out a whole lot, I'm not sure what I am going to do with my hair, but for now I think its kinda fun.

Here is some of what I have been up to since I have been gone.

Shooting Star

Bag/ Jump From Paper, Dress/ Let Me Wear This, Shoes/ Maxstar.

$up
Getting side track on the internet when you actually have a lot of homework to do is very frustrating because it is so easy to do. I swear I was just looking at all these retro shoes for about an hour. I didn't have any intention of buying them or anything, they were just so beautiful I had to keep looking.

I got this dress when I went off to Brighton with my friend Holly. It was a lot of fun, and they had a great selection of vintage clothing. I saw this dress and really just had to have it, all though it wasn't this short when I bought it. I took it home for easter break and my mom offered to wash it for me. Being a lazy 21 year old, I was like sure! Big mistake! This dress shrunk and now it barley passes my bum. Thank goodness for tights. The shoes I got a year ago off of ebay. It's from a company called Maxstar, and they have so many different kinds of platform converse. I really want to get a new pair that is pink. I guess pink is just my new color.

Music- All I can say is that I am really loving where my music taste is taking me.

High Voltage

Shoes/ YRU, Bag/ Jump From Paper, Dress/ Barrio Vintage.

$up
Jump From Paper bags caught my eye sometime last year. I always loved the way that they looked, especially how they looked in pictures. When I first saw them I was convinced that someone photoshopped a cartoon looking bag into their picture. When I figured out that it was actually a real bag, I felt like I needed one. About a week or two ago Jump From Paper approached me about featuring them on my blog. I was so thrilled and excited! I got the bag over the weekend and I was a giddy school girl when I opened the package. It also came with a really cute cartoon like wallet (which I desperately needed.). This purse is definitely a necessity to my current style, so you will be seeing a lot more of it (Thank you Jump From Paper!). The bag is also very roomy and can fit a lot of stuff, it even looks cartoon-y when you open it. Make sure to check out their website JumpFromPaper.com.

This dress I got from a vintage store in Honolulu, when I went to Oahu this easter break. The vintage store was probably the coolest one I had ever been too. It was called Barrio Vintage in downtown Honolulu. If your ever in the area, this is a must if you love vintage as much as I do. The people who work there are so friendly and they love unique outfits (the best kinds). I've been told if you go there a lot, the owners will pick out and save stuff for you that they think you would like. That is my kind of place. Lastly this outfit wouldn't be complete without my YRU platforms. I have been getting a lot of wear out of them lately, I am really interested in getting new platforms that are high quality. Probably from buffalo, but they are kind of pricey.

Music- This song has literally been stuck in my head for a whole entire week. I can't get enough.

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch

Skirt/ Sun Thrift, Shirt/ Sun Thrift, Shoes/ UNIF

$up,
How awesome is this skirt. I have worn it before for my blog, so it may look a bit familiar. I love it. It reminds me of a bad 90s screen saver for a computer. I love shit like that, I think it's funny. I found this and my top at Sun Thrift. I was really lucky to find this shirt. It was for a rather large person, I think, so I took it in and now its a cute little crop top. The shoes are UNIF and definitely one of my favorites. This picture was also shot by the lovely Tish Jarrett, who shot the pictures in the last post. This was probably the portion that reeked the most of piss, but I don't really think my face conveys how bad it smelled.

Monday is Funday

Dress/ St Cyr Vintage, Shoes/ Y.R.U., Jacket/ Bleached Vintage

$up,
Happy monday everyone. I have a little over three weeks left in this term, and I am so excited to go home for easter break, how ever this week is crunch week. I have so much shit to do and I'm bugging out a little bit. I've done a lot of work but I just don't feel like its enough yet, so I am really going to hustle this week. Today we had 10 minutes of sunshine, and then it became really grey, but it was kind of warm (warm being 57 degrees). This dress I got in this really wonderful vintage store called St. Cyr Vintage in the Camden Market. I went there while my mom was still in town and we ended up getting lost in the market (as always) and we stumbled across this store. Everything was really well organized, and each article of clothing was arranged by size which was cool and frustrating. I saw frustrating because out of all the beautiful clothing there were only four things in my size. This dress was one of the four things, and thank god, because its soo cute. I made this coat a year ago, and it isn't really warm enough for London, but since today was kind of warm I got away with wearing it. These shoes are Y.R.U. and I find they are the most fun to wear, but I still really want to customize them. We'll see what happens.

I had a conversation with a woman on the tube yesterday. I complemented her coat, because it was bright pink, and really cute, and it is very rare to see an older woman wearing something colorful in London, especially on a rainy dreary day. She went on to day she liked what I was wearing and then we talked about how people give people wearing colors weird looks because everyone always wears black of grey. She went on to ask me if I was a student and what I did, and I asked her what she did. She does IT but she loves music and plays the piano and cello. it doesn't sound like much of a conversation, but it really made me feel good. People usually glare at me for wearing the stuff I wear, and it doesn't really bother me, but it does make it hard to talk to people. The fact that she wanted to talk to me, made me feel really nice. People never talk on the tube.. They should.

Music-I know I already posted Chela, but I mean come on, this is a great song.

Brother Bryan

Dress/ My mothers, Shirt/ Sinister Clothing, Shoes/ Dr. Martens, Coat/ Portabello Market.

$up,
I got my sewing machine fixed today, thank god! I have been thinking a lot the past couple of weeks of opening up an etsy store. I used to have one called Bleached Vintage, but I didn't really feel good about it because I didn't like what I was selling and I didn't really know how to go about selling things. This time, I want to do it properly. I have some really cool designs drawn up, and I am going to get a beginners silkscreen so I can make custom fabrics and I'll sell those. I'm pretty excited about it actually. I'm not sure if I want to be back on etsy though, I might look into big cartel. We'll see. What are your guyz thoughts?

But I'm a Cheerleader!

Shirt/ American Apparel, Jumper/ (my moms) Vintage, Leggings/ Target, Shoes/ Y.R.U.

$up,
So it's about time that I update my lookbook and my blog, as far as ootd posts go. I am so so in love with this jumper. I stole it from my mom. She went to Hollywood high from 1979-1981 and was a varsity cheerleader for her senior year, I think even her junior year she was a varsity cheerleader. This was her varsity sweater, and it conveniently says her name on the front. Whenever I wear this, I get called Sydni at least once. On the back it says Hollywood, which gets a lot of attention in London. I think it's really funny that I like this sweater so much, because I wouldn't have dared to be a cheerleader in high school. No disrespect against the cheerleaders, one of my best friends was a cheerleader, it just wasn't really my scene. ~N E WAY, one of my favorite things to wear with this jumper is this red white and blue floral button up shirt. I love florals, to state the obvious.

Lately I haven't really liked the way tights look with my outfits. I think it's because they are all black and everything I have been wearing lately has been really colorful, and black just cuts into it and it makes my outfit look like shit. Since I don't live in california anymore, I can't just not wear tights durning winter (so jealous of the weather in california right now). So I am in the market for some different tights, preferable thick beige tights, so it looks like I'm not wearing tights. I ruined this white leggings I am wearing today about 2 minutes ago when I was using ink to paint on a piece of leather... Of course that would happen. I guess that just teaches me not to wear all white when I'm working. Speaking of all white, do you like my new shoes? I got them for christmas, and I'm obsessed with them. I wanted to get them in all white so I could paint something really cool on them. I don't really know what to paint yet, but it will come to me soon.

Now to answer a question about my hair (most frequently asked question). I did not re-dye my hair purple. This just happened with washing. I dyed my hair two different colors of blue, using manic panic dye. The roots were dyed a darker color blue. Through washing my hair, this happened. I do really like it though, but I also loved the blue. Why can't colors just stay the color they say they are?

Music- SO, who is excited about the Coachella line up? I'm exited to see shlohmo, Rl Grimes, Arcade Fire, Little Dragon, Surfer Blood, Warpaint, disclosure, Blood Orange, Girl Talk, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, and a couple more gems. I need to look into more of the bands so I can see what I am getting myself into <3
