I'll Watch the Sunrise

Shoes/ UNIF, Top/ Dimepiece, Skirt/ Sun Thrift, Shawl/ Gift

$up,
So the weather has been so shit lately that I have had to resort to taking pictures inside. Since I live in student halls, I don't have a lot of good inside space to take pictures, so I photoshopped the background. The more I look at these pictures, the funnier I think they are. The pictures in the background were found via Geocities.jp. I think they are naturally really beautiful, so when I photoshop my "serious" lookbook pictures it just makes me laugh because I am totally ruining the beauty of the colorful snow.

Aside from the comical photoshop job, this outfit is not appropriate for the weather, so I overdressed it with a long faux fur overcoat (not pictured). I looked like the Gruffalo, in the best way possible. This top is Dimepiece and it is falling apart as you can tell (maybe) by the logo. I kind of think it looks cool, but at the same time, it bothers me a little, because it was a little pricey and I haven't worn it that much. I would expect better quality. This skirt is one of my favorites, I got it at sun thrift. I love how sparkly it is. The faux fur shawl I am wearing was a christmas gift from my grandma. It's really soft and it is pretty warm. Lastly I am wearing my UNIF cross trainer highs. I can't get enough of platform shoes. These shoes are probably my favorite. UNIF is really up on their shoe game.

Everyday it seems like my hair changes colors. I really don't understand what is going on with it, but I really do like the way it looks. I don't understand how blue turns into pink and purple, but it does make it easier to wear lipstick!

Flea Market

Top/ Dimepiece, Shorts/ Bleached Vintage, Shoes/ Demonia

$up,
Yesterday my day started at 3am which was probably the earliest I have woken up. I usually go to sleep around 3 so naturally my body was thrown when I tried to go to sleep at 7pm to get a full nights rest. I tossed and turned trying to sleep for hours. I finally fell asleep at 2am only to wake an hour later. I got ready and at 4 I headed down to the Rose Bowl with my mom to pick up my merchant ticket and then set up to start selling. The Flea Market opened at 6:30 am, and it was still dark. We saw the crazy bargain hunters with their trench coats and flash lights perusing through the vintage articles of clothing and furntiture.

I wanted to charge people 20$ for my shirts because on my etsy store they are 40$ but no one wanted to buy my shirts at 20 bucks a pop. So I figured out through out the day, to actually sell stuff they need to be dirt cheap. I ended up charging people 15$ for each shirt. I wasn't to happy about that because it took a lot of time to make each thing, but I mean I guess people were really interested in what I was selling. I didn't sell anything until 10am and then it was a bit spotty from there. at 12 I broke even and then the sales started pouring in. At the end of the day I walked away with $200 ($135 profit, yeahhhh!). I bought my ticket a couple days before selling so my spot was in the very back corner and it was across from a gate. We didn't get very much foot traffic, but I got a better feel for what the audience is looking for. If I were to do it again I think I would buy my ticket sooner so I could get a spot with better foot traffic, because I think in the end thats why I didn't sell a lot of stuff.

All and all I really did have a good time, I loved spending the time with my mom, and my Grandma came down and hung out with us. They are both so supportive of everything I do and I am so grateful to have the both of them in my life. I got to walk around towards the end and I got to buy a pair of shoes for pretty cheap (The Flea Market is always good for that kind of stuff). I also ran into a couple familiar faces. It was good to see you guys!

BBGURL

$up,
I had an interview over the phone this morning with London College of Fashion. It was at 3 in the afternoon in London, which is 7 in the morning here. That is like in the middle of the night for me (I'm not a morning person.). I was really nervous because I had an interview 2 weeks ago, and the women that interviewed me was not the most friendly. She acted like she didn't like any of the answers I was giving her. The end of that interview she wanted me to send her more artwork and then I would get a follow up interview. So this morning someone else called me from the college and he was soo much nicer. I took a breath of relief when I herd someone else's voice on the other end of the phone. He seemed to really like all the answers I gave him, which made me feel great. He told me when he first saw my artwork he was like "She's mad!" but when he looked at the other artwork I had sent in he realized that I was "very talented, and a well rounded artist." This made me feel so wonderful. And then we started talking about the course that I had applied for (Foundations in Shoe Design). He asked me why I applied for this course when I had written in personal statement that I my goal was to get a Bachelors degree in shoe design. I said that I didn't feel that I had enough knowledge about shoe design, and didn't want to be over my head. He then went on to tell me that I was ready for the Bachelors Degree program and then he offered me a spot. I was so ecstatic I quickly said "I would love to!"

You guys, I'm moving to London!

Music- Asleep- The Smiths. I love this song. I feel like when songs like this are used in popular movies (Perks of Being a Wallflower) they kind of get ruined in a sense. Not really ruined but I guess the musically ignorant people think that the song was made for the movie. People that saw that movie that have never herd of the smiths, I am happy that you learned about them, because they are super great. But they are old and this song does not "belong" to that movie.

$up,
So I've been taking care of my great grandma so far this week until the 10th. I have the 4th off which is cool though. Taking care of her really isn't that difficult, so I am mostly just on the computer or watching movies with her. But of course I am still taking care of her, I make her food a drive her to and from the senior center. (She's 98.. Btw) Anyway since I've been on the computer a lot I have been looking at a lot of different fashion blogs and just doing some fashion "research" and its really been fun. I went on a little shopping spree last night because I finally got my pay check!
