Under Construction

Rings/ Vinca, Shirt/ Sun Thrift, Shorts/ Omaya, Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell

$up,
How cute are these rings? I got a lovely gift basket from Vinca. Vinca is this cool new jewelry company in the US and they make really awesome rings earrings and necklaces, they even make custom jewelry. Check out their site here. I got these shorts from a vintage store in Paris called Omaya. It was a really cool place and everything was pretty cheap. I needed some new pink things and a saw these shorts and had to snag them, they are a little big, so I might take them in a bit. I have been super into turtle necks lately, so this shirt was a necessity for today.

I am getting really frustrated with the weather lately (all winter) because I am not used to having seasons, and my wardrobe is not equipt to handle it. There are all these things I want to wear, but its to fucking cold. I'm so over it. WINTER LEAVE ME ALONE!

~*BB I'M FABULOUS*~

Glasses/ UNIF Moody's, Vest/ DIY, Shirt/ UNIF, Skirt/ American Apparel, Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell

$up,
I feel super brandalicious in this post. I never really wear this many brands, but I was so excited about my newest purchases. I got these beautiful rainbow moodys for free because I bought this unif shirt during their moody promotion ~score~. The top is a little bit off white, so I had to wear something that was a little bit off white. I paired it with this American Apparel dress (but I wore it as a skirt) and it actually looked better than I expected. I then through this vest on. I started making this vest over the summer and I just finished it at the end of last term. Unfortunately it is winter and it is freezing, so I can't really wear this and make it look as cool as it would normally. I now endure real winters, unlike California, I can't hang. Taking this picture was pretty miserable, but it had to be done. Incase you can't tell, the back is entirely embroidered and it says "BB I'm Fabulous". Lastly I put on these beat up Jeffrey Campbell platform Oxfords. These were my first platform shoes, and I have loved them to pieces, but their time is almost up. It's really sad when you spend a lot of money on shoes that fall apart in a couple of years. When I start to make and sell shoes, I am going to make sure that they never break/ fall apart. If they ever do, it will be after like 20 years or something. Quality.

My mom got here today and I couldn't be happier. I have a lot of really fun things that I am planning to do with her, one of them being a Harry Potter studio tour!

Beauty

Shirt/ Eat End Vintage, Shorts/ Bleached Vintage, Socks/ Target, Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell.

$up,
Lately I have been thinking a lot about beauty. I had a conversation on friday with two other girls and I asked them what they thought was beautiful and what kind of people they were attracted to. One girl told me she thinks beauty is ugly. She is attracted to people that have crooked teeth, who are overweight who have moles, people that are not perfect. She really stressed that she hated "perfect" people. Not in a jealous type of way, she just didn't think that perfection or what society displays as "perfect" was beautiful. In my words what she is saying is perfection is imperfection. The other girl told me that she liked tall awkward people with big noses. Personally I am attracted to people that are individuals and that are unique. Creativity is what I love to see in others. I love people that are unconventionally pretty and tall and lanky.

I think we all agreed that the personality is everything. To be honest though, there is always that first impression. As people we recognize beauty and most of the time that is what gets us interested. Thats not us being shallow, mind you, thats just stating a fact. Once you start talking to the other person it really is all up to the personality. I have talked to people that I thought were the most beautiful people on earth and then I realized that their personality was garbage and it actually changed their appearance in my eyes.

I don't really understand the difference between the people that we all talked about that night and the people that society deems as "perfect". What makes them all seem so "perfect" is they have confidence. All people have flaws and celebrities and models are no different. Those flaws are what make them stand out and they choose to own them rather then to wallow in self pity. It is because they are in the public eye that makes others feel inferior or not beautiful enough. We need to just realize that they are people, just like us. They are perfectly imperfect, just like us.

A lot of what we think is beautiful is a reflection on what we see in ourselves that we like and the rest is what we see in our surroundings. Ultimately beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am really interested to hear what you, my readers think is beautiful. (Please comment bellow and let me know what you think is beautiful)

Tacky in the Slightest

Glasses/ Giant Vintage Sunglasses, Dress/ WEWA, Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell.

$up
The weeks in Uni are slowly progressing. We are still in the induction process and will probably be finished in another week. I had forgotten how much I loved being in an artistic environment. It's slightly different this time around, but it's still great. I think last time friends came easier because I wasn't looking so hard for them, I was looking for creativity and that came, but with huge cloud of self judgement. This time I got really bummed out in the first couple of weeks that I didn't have any friends or really anyone that I wanted to be friends with and then I realized that I was searching to hard for the right people and not letting it all come naturally. In this past week at Uni, I gave up my search for friendship and just started doing my own thing. I have been having the best/ most creative ideas for shoes, clothing, art and just everything. I have a lot of things right now in the works. The first full day I was here I ran into a woman on the bus and we were talking for a while. I was on my way to the doctors because I felt ill, and she could tell my energy was really anxious and upset. She told me to let life take control and I have been doing my best to let life lead me. I haven't been this happy in a while and it feels really great. Letting life lead the way has been working out so well and so many opportunities have presented themselves to me and I am so excited to see what comes next. It was difficult at first but I think moving here has been the best decision that I have ever made.

How darling is this dress? I found it at the Camden Market this past sunday. I went with Justin and this American girl that moved in on my hall. She actually lives in California about an hour from where I used to live in Oakland. It was pretty fun, we got crepes and some cute clothes for super cheap. This dress is made by a company called WEWA, and they are located in the Electric Ballroom in Camden Town every Sunday. The maker is a 70 year old woman and she makes really wonderful pieces that have all these really cool patches on them and then they are colored over with some kind of sparkly fabric paint. I loved the print on the dress and the angel is so tacky in the best way possible. I am sporting some Giant Vintage Glasses that are really pretty and pink. The shoes are Jeffrey Campbell and they are a hunk of junk. I have maybe worn these shoes six times and they are all broken and falling apart. I've had them for a couple of years though, but they haven't been worn very many times. I have been doing this sort of Edie Sedgwick/ Twiggy eye make up lately, and I actually really love the way it looks, I get some pretty weird stares from people when I am walking on the street though, but hey, I can deal with it.

Far Far Away

Dress- Sway Chic, Shoes-Jeffrey Campbell, Shall- Sun Thrift, Umbrella/ Coachella Music Festival

$up,
So even though I am posting pictures from Salvation Mountain, I am not in America anymore. I moved to London yesterday. I have really only been here a little over a day, but I am really not loving it. I had a really horrible flight in, my anxiety led me to have a really bad panic attack on the plane and when I actually got to my dorm. I felt really bad, and I couldn't eat because every time I tried I felt like I was going to throw up, up until a little while ago. I went to the doctors today and he couldn't really do much for me except give me advice because I have really only been here for a day. He told me to take it easy and eat some food that I can stomach and talk to people in my dorm because odds are we are all going through very similar things. On the way to the doctors I met a girl on the bus who told me to let life lead and for me not to try and control it. She told me to be more positive because then more positive things will come my way. It makes sense and that is how I used to live my life. I think when you are in a dark place it seems near to impossible to change your thinking. I am home sick, that is for sure, but I am feeling a little bit better than I was yesterday, and apparently it will keep getting better. I think as the weeks press on, I'll slowly start to love London, or even just like it.

Music- I don't really know what to post. Right now music isn't making me feel good and it usually does.. I suppose you could never go wrong with some Daft Punk, Make Love.

Who Do You Think You Are?

Turtle neck/ Sun Thrift See Through Top/ Vintage Hand-me-down Pants/ Sun Thrift Shoes/ Jeffrey Campbell

$up,
This look was kind of just thrown together. I am aware that none of it matches, but I actually really enjoyed that aspect of it. I wanted to wear this turtle neck that I had cut into a crop top, but I couldn't really find something to go with it. So I guess I just put on things that really didn't match. The pants are my favorite, they kind of fit me awkwardly because I am a little bit to tall for them, but I think that makes them even better. I like thrift clothes because not everything fits as it should, but I think some times it looks better that way. The see through top was my aunts in the 60s. She gave it to my mom, and then my mom gave it to me. I really love the way it looks, but every time I wear it, it makes me look like I am dressed up. I don't think this outfit would really be complete without this shirt though. The shoes I got in high school back when Jeffrey Campbell was big on the Floral Heels (These were my graduation present!). I don't really wear them that often, but I really do love them. They are a bit hard to walk it, but I think it's because the arch in my foot is a little bit higher than most.

I think I might be dying my hair a cool new color today.. It will be a surprise what color!

Music- Lately I have had some trouble thinking of songs to post. I want to post new music because I want this blog to be as current as possible, but as you can probably tell by my posts, I love old music. I think today I am going to post some Spice Girls. The Spice Girls have a soft spot in my heart. They were the first people I saw in concert when I was a young child. I love how they kind of are getting a second wave of popularity with the "hip" crowd. The Spice Girls- Who Do You Think You Are.

So I've been taking care of my great grandma so far this week until the 10th. I have the 4th off which is cool though. But of course I am still taking care of her, I make her food a drive her to and from the senior center. (She's 98.. Btw) Anyway since I've been on the computer a lot I have been looking at a lot of different fashion blogs and just doing some fashion "research" and its really been fun.
