Irregular

Romper/ Forever 21, Scarf/ Thrifted, Shoes/ We Who See, Sweater/ Good Will Oakland

$up,

6 days of nonstop rain in London. It's really just been sprinkling, but if it sprinkles long enough it gets everything soaked. This picture was taken when my dad was visiting, actually on his last day here. It's my first lookbook picture from London. I dyed my hair, and I actually kind of hate it. It's a bit too bright for me, and its actually not coming out of my hair. I've been washing it every day, and those of you who dye your hair frequently, you know that you shouldn't wash your hair every day because you will loose your color quickly. I think when you are trying to loose it, it wont leave. So I guess the joke is on me. I think I just don't like it because it is to bright and if I wear all black it makes me look really goth, not into it.

Since I have been in London I have done a lot of exploring on my own. I stubbled upon Irregular Choice, which I had herd of before, and seen their stuff, but for some reason, it is so much crazier in London then in the States. I am super into it, but the shoes are out of my price range for the moment. These are a few of my favorites. They don't carry the Bunny shoes anymore, but they have a large variety of really awesome shoes, check out their online store here:

I also stumbled upon Brick Lane, a wonderful area for Vintage Clothing. I went there yesterday and got some goodies that I am really excited to wear and show off. All I need know is someone to take my picture!

Music- The Strokes, Someday. Always nice for a pick me up.

$up,
So I was going to upload some pictures of me in Camden Town, but my sim card decided to delete the pictures.. So I guess I will just upload the last pictures from Salvation Mountain. My past week has really been an emotional roller coaster, and I haven't really been quite sure how to handle it. One second I feel really good about everything and the next I am super sad and I can't see anything positive. There has been a huge amount of change since I have moved. I don't really remember my first go at college being the same way. There is a lot of stuff I would rather not write down because this is the internet and it can get a bit icky if I get too personal, but I can just be honest. Since I have moved I have really been questioning myself and who I am. I know I still want to make shoes, don't get me wrong (That will never change), but I feel as though I am in between styles and it doesn't make me feel good. I know that sounds stupid because it doesn't seem like a big deal, but to me it actually is. The way I see it is my style even though it changes frequently is the only constant in my world full of change. I always feel good about myself because I always like what I wear or the way my hair is, but since I have moved, I haven't liked either one. That is really off putting to me and it is kind of throwing me off and making me upset. I dyed my hair purple, but it came out fuschia, and it's just way to bright, I really don't like it! However I'm just going to have to deal with it, I guess. No matter how I look at this it is entirely superficial, but I think it's important to feel good about yourself, because that reflects everything else you do. If you feel shitty it lowers your ability to do the things that you love. When you feel good, you attract the right kind of people in to your life, and the right kind of opportunities. This blog post makes it seem like its all bad here, but truthfully, I like it a lot, I just haven't found my footing yet. I know that soon enough I will, and I will find the perfect friends and I will be doing really great in school. It's just the waiting I guess thats bumming me out.

My dad has been visiting me this past week, and it has really been great, I love that he is here. I haven't really been able to make any friends yet though because I am spending so much time with my dad, but they are going to be here all year and I will have plenty of opportunities to get to know everyone. My dad is only here one more day, and I don't think he'll be coming back up for a couple of years, so I don't care that I am spending all my time with him. Also we are super close, so I love to spend time with him. He knows London pretty well, for someone that has never lived here before, so he has been showing me around a lot. It's been really fun, but I know when he leaves I am going to be sad again, but I think it's something I will be able to handle. Thank god for Skype. I would be loosing my mind if I didn't have it.

Music- Blur, Park Life. I went to an Old School Indie club in London last weekend. It was really fun, but they didn't just play indie music, they played a lot of The Cure, Blondie, brit pop from the 70s and 80s, Joy Division and then Indie music from like 2005 and such. It was a really interesting mix of music, and it was totally up my alley. The people at the club were pretty dorky, but its a fun place to drink and dance, and it's pretty close to where I live. They played this song, and I fell in love with it.

Artist Spotlight: Felisha Tolentino

So if you read the Nastygal Blog as religiously as I do, your familiar with Felisha Tolentino. Felisha is a photographer that photographs for clothing companies and certain bands. She is one of the exclusive photographers on the Nastygal blog, she takes pictures at events that their team goes to and she also photographs models for their lookbook shoots. I really love her style of photographer because it reminds me of my own. Of course she is a lot better then I am at photography, but the ideas behind what she is doing is a lot like the ideas that I have. I decided to write about Felisha because a couple of days ago I was looking at the Nastygal blog and I was feeling kind of down, but looking at her pictures from FYF made me feel so much better strangely enough. I have gathered together a collection of pictures from her Website and from the Nastygal Blog, so there is a mixture of work from clothing companies Lookbooks to random party pictures. Prepare for a photo overload...

Her Website is felishatolentino.com
and also check her out on the Nastygal Blog.

$up,
So I have been having this really uncomfortable thought recently. It is the thought that I am just too different from everyone else. I have been in London for a week today and I haven't really made any friends or seen anyone really who looks like they would want to be friends with me. People are very friendly, they come up to me and talk a little but, but thats as far as it goes. It's just some small talk. I am trying hard to be positive and for the most part I am being pretty positive but some times it ways down on me not knowing anyone. I am not particularly shy, I can really keep a conversation going, but it really only works I think if the other person is putting effort in the conversation. I have never really cared what other people thought of me, but I think some times when your all alone and you don't really have the support of your friends or family, you kind of feel a little bit uncomfortable. It's not that I really care what anyone else is thinking because I really like the way I dress and the way I act, but I guess I am just super bummed that no one likes the same kind of stuff that I like. I think sometimes we just want to fit in instead of standing out, even though I know I would benefit so much more from standing out and being myself than conforming and wishing that I could be myself. There are just some thoughts that run through my head sometimes that are really unsettling like, What if I don't find any friends, or what if I am too weird, or what if no guy ever thinks I am attractive and whats to go out with me? However after I have those thoughts I am like Fuck that! I love who I am, I think I am super friendly, talented, smart and interesting and if I don't find anyone to be friends with or to date it's not a big deal because I like me. One of my favorite bloggers, Lights Drive my Soul, wrote about this a couple of days ago and I swear she read my mind. She put it a lot better then I did, but this is me, and this is the way I write!
